Low-hour — or low-time — positions: the operator states a minimum of 1,500 total hours or less, or runs a cadet scheme. The figure shown on each job is the one written in the ad, grouped below by the hours it asks for.

What operators actually ask for

Since June 2026 we have recorded 132 vacancies at or below 1,500 hours across 57 operators. 125 of them stated a minimum total flight time: a median of 1,200 hours, ranging from 200 to 1,500. 7 gave no figure, so they carry no hours badge below.

47 of those ads were clear about the type rating: 28 wanted it already held, 19 did not (not required, a plus only, or paid for by the operator). Without the type, start with the jobs with no type rating required.

Where low-hour pilots actually get hired

Most lists of low hour pilot jobs name kinds of work — flight instructing, banner towing, skydiving, ferry flights. This one is read from the careers portals of the operators WingJobs follows: every vacancy advertised at 1,500 hours or less since June 2026, by market and kind of operator.

Hours are the minimum total flight time written in each ad. A median appears only from 10 ads that state a figure.

Pilot jobs under 500 hours

They exist, but they are rare: 6 of the 125 ads that stated a figure since June 2026, from Luxaviation (200 h), Air Charter Scotland (250 h), Emerald Airlines (250 h) and Swiftair (350 h). Most low-hour vacancies sit higher: 30 asked for 500 to 999 hours, and 89 for 1,000 to 1,500.

Low hour pilot jobs in Europe

31 open now in Europe, at Avcon Jet, Luxaviation, Ryanair, Air Charter Scotland, Bulgaria Air, NetJets Europe, VistaJet, Air Independence and 12 more. Since June 2026, 63 European ads at 31 operators, with a median of 1,000 hours and a lowest of 200. The licence counts as much as the hours: see EASA pilot jobs.

Low hour pilot jobs in the United States and Canada

US airlines need an ATP certificate even in the right seat: 1,500 hours, or 750 to 1,250 with a restricted ATP. 34 of the 40 US aeroplane ads here that state a figure ask exactly 1,500. Below that, the usual first jobs — flight instructing, banner towing, skydiving, Part 135 cargo — are rarely posted on operator careers portals, and this page does not list them. In Canada, 9 ads since June 2026, the lowest at 500 hours — open now at Pacific Coastal Airlines, AirSprint, Cargojet, Keewatin Air and WestJet.

Cadet schemes

Air Nostrum, ETF Airways, Luxair, Platoon Aviation and Ryanair have advertised cadet places as vacancies since June 2026. Academies that recruit all year round, without a dated vacancy, are listed on pilot talent pools.
